Welcome
Palazzo Cattolica Art Apartment is a private apartment strategically located in the Kalsa district, in the old town of Palermo. The apartment is on the fourth floor of a magnificent palazzo from the 18th C, famous for its impressive courtyard and the enchanting monumental staircase.
The palace, mirror of the city, magically takes us back to the splendour of another time of aristocratic greatness which today is in decay, and a stay within its walls is a unique and special experience.

The cosy apartment
The apartment is an oasis of peace inside the chaotic and animated city of Palermo. It is ideal for a couple but it can host comfortably up to a family of four. It has been restored respecting the original materials, colours, and decorations from the XVIII century. It is furnished with many objects from the Sicilian tradition, tastefully mixed with modern art pieces.
Two bedrooms, one beside the other, with vaulted ceilings and original decorations, have been created through the realization of a modern mezzanine in iron and wood, where ancient and modern mix in perfect harmony and continuity.
-
The sunny balcony
The apartment has two big French windows which make it bright, well-ventilated and panoramic. Through these windows you can access a wide terrace where it is a pleasure to have breakfast in the morning, to read a book or to have a glass of wine at sunset, enjoying a unique panorama over the lively and buzzing city of Palermo. The view from this point extends beyond the roofs and domes of the city up to the distant mountains which frame the landscape. Staying in Cattolica palace means travelling with style!
-
The monumental staircase
Even though the restoration is incomplete, the gorgeous staircase leading to the apartment is impressive for its majestic scale, the colours of the marble, as well as the busts and statues of the ancestors of the Cattolica family. To get to the apartment, there are 130 steps, low-rise and not tiring at all; it is a beautiful walk into the past which bring us to the time when the aristocrats used to go up the stairs on horseback. When you see a magnificent plaster rose window in the ceiling, with its central dome elaborated in iron and glass, you have reached your destination!

The impressive courtyard
An impressive front door in wrought iron opens and shows you a view of the enchanting internal courtyard of the palace, where two gorgeous arched passages stand out for their originality and uniqueness. Just like a caravanserai, legacy of the Arab architecture, the courtyard seems to be a city within the city, with ancient storehouses and workshops under its arches. Thanks to its distinctiveness, the courtyard has been used as a set for many movies. The courtyard seamlessly leads onto the majestic monumental staircase which brings you to the apartment, and the gorgeous open gallery from which you can admire the court from above.
